As you and your child continue to explore Africa, you’ll find the letter “W” for Wildebeest. The Wildebeest is the Navigator of the Pride because he knows where to find water. Your child will continue his or her journey through the great plains of Africa, learning about migration and evaporation while continuing to build vocabulary and solidify knowledge through phonemic awareness. Read the third book, watch “The Secret Letter W,” and explore the activities section for some fresh and creative ways to learn with your child.
Teaching Tip:
Don’t sweat it if you don’t get to every single activity or lesson you planned for a day. What’s important is engaging with your child as often as you can, however you can.

Wildebeest Migration Tag- “Migration” is just a fancy word for moving from place to place, right? Take this opportunity to bring your child outside to move! You can play Tag or simply run around like little wildebeests, pretending to migrate across the Serengeti. The extra bonus for you is that you’ll have a very tired little kid!

Healthy Snack
Crazy Cubes- While your child is learning about water, you can have healthy fun with it. Chop up whatever berries you have on hand – strawberries, blueberries, even frozen berries in the freezer — and put a few small chunks in each section of an ice cube tray. Your child can help fill the tray with water (practicing conservation skills by trying not to waste any!) and put the tray in the freezer. The frozen cubes will make a glass of water fun and appealing for them! Plus, it will help them steer clear from wanting sugary, colored drinks. And don’t forget to drop a few Crazy Cubes in your own drink, Mama, whatever it may be!
