Teaching tolerance, respect, and the Secret Letter “P”, the Panda is the Ambassador of the Pride and the next animal in Level 4. The Panda lives in China, and he thinks of ways that the animals and people of the world can live in peaceful harmony. Your child will continue the journey through the Animals Of The World book with Panda, as well as learning the sound and shape of the Panda’s letter in “The Secret Letter P” video.

Teaching Tip:

Asking your child basic questions to gauge comprehension, like “Where does the Panda live?”, is a good way of determining what materials or activities are working best for him or her.

Activities
Paper Bag Pandas(Materials: White paper bags, black/red/white construction paper, glue, black marker) – Make a fun Panda puppet! Use the bottom of the bag as the Panda’s face and mouth by unfolding the back of the bag and leaving the front side folded. Cut out ears, eyes, nose, and arms from the black construction paper. Glue the cutouts onto the bag, and feel free to add a little red tongue glued under the mouth flap! Let your child use the puppet to tell you about the letter “P.”

Healthy Snack
Panda’s Green Tea- The Panda hails from China, which has a long, beautiful tradition of healthy eating rituals and tea ceremonies. Introduce your child to delicious (and decaf) green tea, either warm or cold. This can be a fun and interactive ritual that you do together. Let your child help you open the tea bag and be in charge of timing the steep. Add a little spoonful of honey if the flavor is too strong for your child.
