5 Minute Mojo

Your child is well on the path to literacy, and the Quail will help your child continue down that path with the “Secret Letter Q.” The Quail is the Pathfinder of the Pride. The Quail leads the animals on an important quest: it is her job to help them find the right path to reunite as a Pride. Your child will continue to explore the rest of the alphabet, sounds, science, and global concepts in today’s lesson with the Quail.

It’s okay if you get stuck. Any teacher will be happy to help you if you have a specific question about your child’s learning process. Your child’s teacher has a wealth of education training to impart, and can provide you with small tips to continue the learning process at home.

Activities
Letter Quest – With your child, write down the letters of the alphabet on separate, colorful pieces of paper. Next, hide the letters (don’t let your child see!) all around your house, and even outside if the weather is nice. Then, let your child lead the way to unite all the letters of the alphabet! Give your child a fun basket to collect the letters and encourage them to say the letters as they find them. When your child has united all the letters, be sure to congratulate them and reward them with a yummy snack as a prize.

Healthy Snack
Quesadillas- How can you refuse a snack that starts with a “Q”? Heat a nonstick pan and add a little butter to melt. Place a tortilla on the pan and sprinkle with calcium-rich cheese like mozzarella or cheddar, as well as any fillings you like (chopped bell peppers, black beans, and leftover chicken are great options). Fold the tortilla in half and cook a couple minutes on each side, until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is golden. Slice into wedges and serve with mild salsa.
