5 Minute Mojo
You’ve already come so far with your child! Keep on moving through Level 4 with the Secret Letter “O” and the toolmaker of the Pride, our friend Otter. Otter knows that the Pride will be ready to reunite once all of the animals have the right tools to rebuild. Read the fourth book with your child, watch Otter’s video, and remember to congratulate your child on making it so far in the adventure!
Teaching Tip:
Teachers will tell any parent that the unconditional love and support a child receives at home is one of the greatest keys to success in school. Focusing on the “togetherness” of this adventure and simply showing your love and support are critical in your child’s drive to succeed.
Momspirations:
“He who lives in harmony with himself lives in harmony with the universe.” Marcus Aurelius

Activities
Building the Alphabet – Kids can build, just like the Otter, and this is a great chance to get creative. Instead of relying on the blocks or legos you might have, have your child go outside or have them look elsewhere in the house to find tools for building. Sticks, rocks, pots, pans, socks, and paper towel rolls all make great tools! When your child has collected a tool kit, have them build letters with you. Go back to the books you have already read and look for ideas. Let your child build their favorite letters out of the tools they found. Take photos of your child with his or her letters on your cell phone or camera, and show your child how great they are doing!

Healthy Snack
Seaweed Strips- Nori, or seaweed, is easy to find in Asian supermarkets or the international section of your grocery store. Seaweed is actually a delicious and healthy snack that will make your child feel just like Otter! You can either buy roasted seaweed snacks at stores like Trader Joe’s, or you can easily make your own. On a lined baking sheet, brush 6 nori strips with water and lay them on top of one another, so they are “buddied up.” Now stuck together, cut the stack into one-inch strips. Do this with the rest of the remaining nori sheets. Then, brush each “chip” with a light layer of sesame oil, and sprinkle with salt. Bake at 275 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, until the strips turn a deep, glossy green.
